Thanks to a donation of unclaimed bicycles from West Mercia Police and funding from Hereford City Council, Newton Farm Community Association and Hereford Cycle Hub can launch an exciting new partnership project. The Earn-a-Bike scheme gives young people the opportunity to learn about cycle repair and maintenance and even earn their own bike so that they are better able to access education, training and employment.
Those interested in taking part in the scheme will need to be referred by the NFCA. The scheme is available to those on a limited income who are aged 12-18, and already in education or working toward education/training/employment (we will need to see evidence of this).
Workshops will take place on alternating Saturdays, from 11am-7pm, starting on the 22nd August and are free of charge. Spaces are also available for people to work on bikes that they already own. We can refer two people per month, so get in touch now to secure your place on the waiting list.
For more details or to donate cycles to the scheme, like our new Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/nfca.hfds), drop into the centre, or call us on 01432 279116.
